Maglaj Skate Park

Maglaj SkatePark exists to serve and empower the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They completed the construction of an outdoor concrete skate park which continues to provide skate classes and camps. The skate park continues to provide a safe recreational area for youth and families; and gives teens and families a sense of ownership and pride for their community. They also completed the facilitating of a 9-part mural in the center of town along with a mural in the children’s wing of the pediatric department of the Health Center in Maglaj. These mural projects served to build community pride and showcased works of art.

TojTabii Juice Production

TojTabii is working to establish a network of independent regional juice producers who are producing high quality, natural fruit juice while packaging and selling under one brand. Although regional fruit production is high, it often goes to waste because they lack the production facilities to turn their second sort fruit into profitable juice. Through partnerships and establishing new production facilities, TojTabii seeks to equip locals to earn a profitable wage locally and reduce food waste.

FatherLand Ethno-Tourism

FatherLand is an ethno-tourism showcase project to help develop attractive and sustainable tourism experiences through “Yurt Conversion'' trailer kits that offer at least four ecologically-safe toilet options. They will be available to the community at zero investment through “lease to own” or grants to local families in appropriate locations. Additionally, they will demonstrate inclusive practices with 100% of non-reinvested earnings going to the local service providers and to show that ecotourism can be an attraction instead of a financial burden.

Integrated CA is processing animal manure in a bio-digester which produces organic fertilizer to restore depleted farmland, and renewable fuel (methane) for heat, cooking and industry – like greenhouses in the harsh winters for year-around vegetable production. Partnering with companies across the ag sector as well as NGO’s, educational, and government entities, Sustainable Farming R&D demonstrates to Kyrgyz farmers a more ecological, effective, and profitable way.

Global Feather is more than rehabilitation; it’s building community equality for those with disabilities. Job-site consultation provides employed adults with disabilities improved skills and communication with their employers, promoting inclusive decent work for all. Local rehab workers are given special training to provide better care, scale, and sustainability. Group classes also foster a strategy to manage this need within the local community affected.

Co-Working Space

While certain parts of India had already experienced the rise of freelancing and co-working spaces, other regions found it difficult to embrace freelancing, especially among women. In the eyes of those around them, freelancers are often seen as lazy and foolish, bringing shame to the family. Their choice of profession is therefore risky and because of the lack of support and exposure to opportunities, many creatives become discouraged and give up, losing much of their passion and potential to the demands of family and society.

Coaching Center

The Prakasam Coaching Center is an after-school program focused on boosting the literacy and reducing the dropout rate of underprivileged rural children living near the Western Ghats mountains of India by providing transportation, homework help, computer and English language training, school uniforms, textbook and school supplies, as well as a daily meal. Every student and family is expected to “pay it forward” by requiring students to coach their siblings or peers.

Village Library System

One of our longest-standing projects operates a system of village libraries or “reading posts” in central Sumatra (Indonesia). These provide not only easy access to books, but also act as mini-community centers where our partners and volunteers encourage children and adults to read, tutor, help with homework, and facilitate community transformation. Transformation is enabled by hosting presentations and discussions with local residents on how to tackle community challenges in the areas of healthcare, education, housing, and unemployment.
